You'll get cut off after 1/2 the allotted time. No one will answer the customer service phone, nor will they return your calls.

Calling Toronto Telecom at the 416-471-7884 number, Oleg will claim not to know what you're talking about.

The customer service number traces back to Uni-select Eastern Inc 75 Rowntree Dairy Road Woodbridge, ON  L4L6C8

Although the prices are more expensive than other cards, you get every minute out of this card with truly no hidden charges, so after you add up all the hidden charges on the other cards, you get about the same amount of talk time.

  • NO higher first minute charge
  • NO multi-minute rounding
  • NO multi-minute blocks
  • NO connection fee
  • NO service charges
  • NO maintenance fees

However, I did get some voice degradation with their Voice over IP network, perhaps due to high call volume this weekend. Calling again may (or may not) cure the problem.

You'll get cut off after 1/3 the allotted time. You will need to call into customer service to get your time back. And you do, they're available during retail hours 7 days a week. Just an inconvenience.

A "maintenance fee" charge is on the cards from 10cents a day, regardless if you use the card or not. Charge is higher on no-connection-fee cards.

The Oshawa access lines are cleaner than the Toronto lines, which tend to get echoey.

Hidden charges include a 78 cents charge per call. There is no "connection fee" (note the quotes) this is a service charge, they say.

If the customer service line is buzy, then you're not placed in a hold queue but your "very important call" should be made again. By your redialling.

Voice quality is excellent from both numbers. You'll get randomly dropped, and there will be periods where the access numbers simply won't work.

Customer service is good, from 9am to 9pm.And the operators speak fairly coherent English.

However, as with all things that sound too good to be true, this is one of them. Nowhere on the poster or the card does it tell you about the service charge, which is 1/3 of the money remaining per call. So, if the service says you have a dollar left in the account, you only get 66cents worth of actual talk time. That means on a $5 card, you get $3 actual talk time and the other $2 is on "service charge." This is on top of the 15cents per day charge.
